Several state-of-the-art compactor trucks have been handed over by KDEB Waste Management Sdn Bhd (KDEBWM) to sub-contractors at the Selayang Municipal Council grounds in Selangor on the 27th of September 2017. These Hyva compactors ensure the waste management of the residents in Selayang are carried out effectively and efficiently. The brand new Hyva compactors were built onto UD chassis.

Speaking at the event was YB Tuan Ean Yong Hian Wah, State Local Government Committee chairman. He mentioned that the use of the Japanese UD Trucks was expected to solve some typical issues faced by contractors, such as worn out trucks that break down easily, leaking and many more. All the compactor trucks will be monitored through an Automatic Vehicle Locating System (AVLS) which will be linked to a Centralized Command Center (CCC) in KDEB Wastes’ Headquarters in Shah Alam.

KDEBWM, a subsidiary of the Selangor State Government has been tasked with the general cleanliness and waste management in the state of Selangor. This process will be done in stages. Since 1 March 2017, KDEBWM has taken over the waste management duty in Selayang Municipal Council (MPS).

The MPS was the second municipal along with Ampang Jaya Municipal Council (MPAJ) whereby the waste management system is to be handled by KDEBWM. This follows the successful pilot project that was carried out in Klang Municipal Council since July last year. KDEBWM was the subsidiary elected as Project Management Company (PMC) by the Selangor State Government.

To date, KDEBWM have handed over 20 “roll on roll off” trucks and 44 compactors to the KDEBWM sub-contractors in the area of Selayang. This handover is in line with the commitment by KDEBWM to bring change and renewal to make it a more effective and efficient waste collection system. The compactors, along with their uniform and fresh image as well as well-equipped with various equipment and sophisticated technology will further increase the quality of the waste management system in the state of Selangor.
