Russia will supply electric bus components to Turkey, Turkish media recently reported. As a first result of this agreement, parts for the first electric bus built under the scope of this contract have meanwhile been shipped to Turkey.
The electric components, developed and manufactured by the Russian company Drive Electro, were built into a citybus constructed by the Turkish manufacturer Otokar, who will be resposible for marketing the vehicle in Turkey and abroad.
The country ranks sixth in Europe in automotive production. Car and van models from Ford, FIAT, Renault, Toyota, Honda, Opel and Hyundai are built in the country, besides Mercedes-Benz and MAN buses and trucks. Moreover, Turkey manufactures local brands of buses, such as BMC, Temsa, Karsan and Otokar.
